Simple Dinner @Poh San Restaurant, Ipoh Garden East

Thai Style Chicken
deep fried chicken topped with shredded cucumber
and pour on with a sweet and spicy thai chillie sauce

My cousin and aunt from Singapore came visiting and I brought them to eat at Poh San restaurant which is near my place . I ordered a few of their signature dishes which are our favourites.  WB and I regular this shop whenever the home kitchen is closed for the day :p  We love their steamed eggs dish 'Sum Wong Tan' consists of three types of eggs - salted duck egg, century egg and egg and their Thai Style Chicken and also their ' Kow Yok'  - alternate slices of yam and pork belly steamed with red beancurd. Not only we had a great fellowship together, we had a great meal too :)  Poh San restaurant is a non air con place and thus the food prices are quite reasonable.  WB and I love this place as their dishes are quite home cooked :)  I will just showcase a few of their signature dishes for today.  The other two dishes I have left out coz I was busy chatting with my aunt and forgotten to snap the simple stir fry veggies :p

'Sum Wong Tan ' - their famous steamed egg dish
consisting of 3 types of egg - slated duck egg, century egg and chicken egg
smooth texture

'Kow Yok ' - alternate slices of yam and pork belly steamed with red beancurd

their signature tofu dish - deep fried and topped with minced meat

Enjoy !

Bought a piece of red snapper fillet from Jusco a few days ago.  Ran out of idea how to cook this piece of fish steak :p, then suddenly I remembered the new cookbook - Madam Choong's Nostalgic Recipes that I bought a month ago , has this very appetizing looking steamed fish recipe with lots and lots of ginger and garlic and chillies.  I flipped to the page and jotted down the ingredients and tada...next I had this a amazingly delicious steamed fish set on the dining table.  The steamed fish smells good ! A keeper for sure. It is so freaking healthy that I want to have this everyday if possible...that is how crazily in love I am with this dish.  The fish is fresh and the fragrant from the mixture of chopped ginger and garlic and hot chillies really whets my appetite. Stir Fry Fu Gui Cai With Sea Salt And Garlic

I have heard so much of this China ' fu gui cai' on facebook and out of curiosity, I bought some back from Tesco during the CNY period.  It was a bit pricey but seeing that it is quite light in weight, I decided to spend some money on it so that I could taste the real thing instead of imagining how this veggie would taste like :p

Some recommended stir fry with garlic and some stir fry with razor clams.  I prefer to stir fry with just salt and garlic and it turned out delicious.  It tasted like Bok Choy but the stem are more crunchy and sweet.  Love it !  It satisfied my curiosity and if not for the price, I would love to it to my daily diet  :)  Simple dish and I am easily satisfied :p

this is how fu gui cai looks like before cooking

after cooking it still looks crisps and fresh :)
just stir fry with garlic and sea salt
