Stir Fry Lala Clams Homecooked Style

Who doesn't like lala clams ?  I am sure you do, unless you have some allergies, this surely would be your favorite dish !  My family loves this and whenever there is a season for these sweet and delicious clams, we will buy it regardless of the price.  Now the price for these lala clams ( the largest ) costs RM16-18 per kilogramme. They are usually reserved for restaurants and the lady at the central market will give me a kilo from the batch they send to restaurants ( after which her husband will scold her :p  )....I will pester her till she relented...hahaha I am that adamant ! :p and I usually do that when the Piggies are home, ( what to do, give the best to your kids syndrome LOL! ) Normally for WB and myself,  I will just take whatever is left on the counter !

I normally stir fried them with savoury sauce...that is some fermented soy beans, black fermented beans ( tau si ) , chilli, lots of garlic and a thickening sauce with a dash of chinese wine but this is optional.  For me, I love to add some wine to it.  A lovely and delicious dish to go with some piping hot white rice.  I can have eat a kilo of them in one go....I am happy when WB say he is having tummy disorder and not wanting to eat this.....LOL!  I can be that happy !!! Just kidding...I will be disappointed of course...after all the hardwork of persuading and almost begging the lady to sell me the fat and luscious clams , sweating in the kitchen to prepare this for us and there he tells me he is not eating ! But seriously... deep inside, I am  happy...one whole plate all to myself ! Gluttony can make one become selfish at times... LOL!

Lala clams can be prepared in many style...and this is the most favored one in the Piggy clan :)  I love the meaty ones..even after cooking they look big...but of course do not overcooked them or they will shrink in size and become tough. My Piggies love the way I cooked them...they always exclaimed..." wa..so meaty and tasty "  and I am happy for the night ! :p   I can survive so long in the kitchen is because they always load me with praises or I will hang up my apron for good !   They are smart aren't they ???

Have a wonderful week......

  8. didnt know that the prices of these have gone up to RM18/kilo. Better cook this at home rather than order it from outside, that will cost a bomb!

  9. Elin, they look wonderful. I love clams served just in their broth with a great piece of really good bread to mop up the accumulated juices. Paradise! I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  10. Oh lala ... it's lala! I love them! But I get really annoyed when I get grit in my mouthful ... can't seem to get rid of it totally :( Think I'll stick to restaurants or place a long distance order from you? :D
