Minced meat ( chicken , beef or pork ) can be prepared in many variations...you can either have it steamed with duck yolk and eggs or steamed it with preserved veggie ( tung choy in cantonese ) or make them into meat cutlets but for once I would like to stuff wasabi into the meatballs and deep fry them till crispy on the outside and juicy inside.Pour some oyster sauce gravy over it. Ooh la la ...it is one dish I don't mind making again coz I love wasabi so does Jo.. and Daddy loves it too * wink
Every bite is heavenly and the pungent wasabi can choke your nostril and sent you back to earth. And you can go on and on...without stopping...you can get addicted after the first meatball. You can eat it sans gravy as a finger food or with onion rings oyster sauce gravy.
can you spot the wasabi oozing out of the meatballs ......
you can eat it sans gravy or eat it
with onion rings and oyster sauce gravy
my gal prefers to eat it with some gravy on :)
but I prefers it sans gravy :p
a yummy finger food while watching drama :p
Wasabi Meatballs

300 gm minced meat ( chicken, beef or pork)
1 tbsp of light soy sauce
2 tbsp of chopped italian parsley

1 tbsp of wasabi powder -
mixed with 1 tbsp of water into a paste
Onion Rings Oyster Sauce Gravy
1 big onion - cut into rings
2 tbsp of oyster sauce
1/2 tbsp of olive oil
2 pips of garlic - chopped fine
1/2 cup water
thickening
1 tbsp of corn flour mixed with 2 tbsp of water
Method:
Mix (A) together and stir vigorously till sticky. Scoop a heaped tbsp of meat mixture and shaped into a ball and fill it with a small amout wasabi in the center and roll back into a round ball. Dust with corn flour. and leave on a plate . Repeat the process till all the meat mixture is used up.
Heat a wok with enough sunflower oil for deep frying on medium low heat. When it is hot enough, put in the meatball one by one and fry till golden brown. Take out and place over kitchen paper to absorb oil.
Prepare the gravy - Heat one tbsp of olive oil in a wok, saute the garlic till fragrant, add in the onion rings and stir fry till it turned slightly transparent. Add in the oyster sauce and water and stir fry for 3 minutes. Add in thickening. The gravy is now ready to be poured over the meatballs. Served with a hot steaming rice.
Note: This wasabi meatball can be taken sans gravy or with gravy :)
Enjoy!
